This wrap-around t-shirt design was a personal project—an opportunity to explore the symbolism and beauty of two subjects that have always captivated me: the hummingbird and the chrysanthemum.
The hummingbird represents joy, resilience, and the ability to find sweetness even in the smallest moments. Its iridescent feathers and impossible agility make it one of nature's most mesmerizing creatures. The chrysanthemum, with its layered petals and rich cultural significance across Asia, symbolizes longevity, rebirth, and the beauty found in both perfection and impermanence.
I wanted to create a design that felt alive and in motion—capturing the hummingbird mid-flight as it hovers near the bloom, drawn to its beauty. By wrapping the composition around the entire garment, the design becomes immersive rather than confined to a single surface. The front showcases the flower in full bloom, the side captures the hummingbird in graceful flight, and the back features cosmic splatter work that suggests the magic and energy surrounding this moment of connection between bird and blossom.
